FHI 360’s presence in Tanzania dates back to the late 1980s, when we focused on building the capacity of community-based organizations to provide HIV counseling, testing and education to underserved populations.
Since 2004, FHI 360 has strengthened the country’s HIV efforts by working with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare to initiate the national HIV Care and Treatment Program and to strengthen home-based care and national programs for orphans and vulnerable children.
FHI 360 has played a pivotal role in developing national training curricula, materials and tools and supported facilities and community-based organizations to implement care, treatment and support services.
