§ Plan, prepare and monitor live broadcast of news in line with the MCL’s strategic objectives.
§ Brief, debrief, guide and monitor reporters to confirm story deadlines are achieved within specified times in line with the editorial policy.
§ Edit news scripts, write headlines and make key decisions on story aesthetics in line with the editorial policy.
§ Conduct quality control of content before broadcasts in line with the editorial policy.
§ Lead the editorial content generation process in line with the editorial policy.
§ Editing processing and posting video stories for web and mobile audiences;
§ Ensuring MCL’s content is properly and timely published on digital platforms. This includes Search Engine Optimization;
§ Guiding reporters on how to capture quality videos;
§ Managing assigned YouTube channels and any other video hosting services.

§ To work with the editorial productions and special projects team in collecting data from the field as per the special projects plan.
§ To follow up proactively with special projects team to ensure data is collected at agreed calendar.
§ To assist in conducting surveys, observational monitoring, focus group discussions and key informant interviews through various content sources including institutions.
§ To enter gathered data in a prescribed tools.
§ To contribute to timely and quality reporting on the project content.
§ To organize, collect, compile and document all content assignment and ensure that all materials/records are properly organized and stored.

Full Job Description
§ Ensuring that news broadcast meets the established broadcasting objectives, journalistic ethics, house style and are delivered within set deadlines;
§ Editing/subbing news scripts, to correct grammatical and factual errors in line with the house style and quality Kiswahili and English
§ Reviewing the stories to ensure they remain relevant, up to date, meet broadcasting objectives, house style and journalistic ethics;
§ Writing story tags and scrolls for each story, managing live productions and associated activities;
§ Preparing news highlights for the bulletins as well as hourly updates;
§ Taking control of production of breaking news by guiding the studio crew led by the News Producer, Presenters, Reporters, Video editors and Graphics Designers;
§ Attending news planning meetings to give input on what stories should be covered and taking part in the planning and analysis of big stories;
§ Deciding on the content, packaging and duration of stories;
§ Determining Docket running order in consultation with other Editors and the Managing Editor;
§ Ensuring smooth, flawless production, an interface with video editors, graphics designers timely and studio technicians; and
§ Guiding and orienting interns and enlightening the reporters on story angles and elements.
