Position: Branch Manager

Department: Retail and SME Banking
Section: Branch Network
Reports to: Manager Branch Network
Location: Upcountry

Position Objective:

We are seeking dynamic and experienced Branch Managers to lead and oversee the operations of our upcountry branches. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction while ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop branch budgets and strategies to ensure profitability.
  • Identify and pursue sales opportunities to meet targets and exceed customer expectations.
  • Align branch goals with retail officers’ objectives for annual sales campaigns.
  • Conduct regular meetings and training sessions to enhance team coordination and performance.
  • Monitor and evaluate branch objectives to assess progress and overall performance.
  • Strengthen business relationships with retail clients and maintain customer loyalty.
  • Regularly visit customers to expand the client base.
  • Offer tailored financial solutions to SMEs, including business loans, working capital financing, and cash management services.
  • Provide expert financial advice to SME clients, helping them achieve their growth objectives.
  • Engage with Government agencies at local, regional, and national levels to solicit banking business.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Government officials to understand their financial requirements and offer suitable banking solutions.
  • Represent the bank positively by liaising with public and Government officials in the branch’s operational area.
  • Ensure compliance with the Bank’s policies, local regulations, and operational procedures.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks in service delivery.
  • Maintain security of cash, documents, and other assets within the branch.
  • Perform regular checks on cash holdings, controlled stationery, and suspense accounts.
  • Ensure timely responses to audit reports and implementation of recommendations.
  • Manage general administration, including staff training, leave planning, and performance evaluation.
  • Adhere to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policies:
    • Conduct customer verification and KYC/CDD quality assurance.
    • Maintain proper records of transactions and customer identification.
    • Report suspicious transactions.
    • Provide AML training to branch staff.

Contributions to the Bank:

  • Enhance customer retention through high service standards.
  • Drive business growth by achieving revenue targets.
  • Optimize operational costs and improve branch profitability.
  • Strengthen control and security measures within the branch.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in banking or financial services, including at least three (3) years in managerial roles within branch operations, SME, and credit management.
