SASSA Appeal Process. The Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD Grant) is administered in terms of section 32 of the Social Assistance Act, 2004 (Act No. 13 of 2004) and is implemented with the concurrence of the Minister of Finance.
The Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD Grant) is meant for South African Citizens, Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Special Permit Holders who are between the ages of 18 and 60 years, who have insufficient means, who do not receive social grants on behalf of herself/ himself or who are not contributing to or eligible for UIF payment, and have no financial support from any other source. 7 SASSA Appeal Process Step By Step

Step 1. Click on the message “click here to lodge and appeal or check appeal status” to access the appeals portal.
Step 2: Type in your ID and the cellphone number used to make an application
for the grant
Step 3: Press “send pin” and wait for the sms with verification pin. Then enter
the pin and press “submit”. This is to make sure that you are the right person making the appeal. Without the verification pin you will not be able to proceed with the process. You also need to have the cellphone you used to make application with you, otherwise you will not be able
to make the application. If for any reason you have changed or lost your cellphone, you must log into the “srd.sassa.gov.za” website to update your details. (TO BE DONE FROM July 1st)
Step 4: Please enter the “verification pin” received and press “submit”
Step 5: Select the month you are appealing for. If you have applied for one month only it with show the month already. The system will also show you the reason why your application was declined
Step 6: Please select the “drop down” arrow to choose the reason for your appeal application. Please select one of the reasons on the list.
Step 7: Then press “submit” and you are done.
