Are you a young changemaker passionate about environmental action? The Ocean Wise Eco-Action Accelerator 2025 is now open for applications! This dynamic 6-month part-time microgrant program is designed to equip Canada Service Corps (CSC) alumni with the tools and support they need to scale up a service project that contributes to positive environmental change.
Ocean Wise Eco-Action Accelerator 2025
Program Overview
Running from September 15, 2025, to January 5, 2026, the Eco-Action Accelerator offers selected participants the opportunity to grow their impact through three interconnected components:
- A 3-day in-person retreat (October 3–6, 2025),
- Six entrepreneurial workshops, and
- Ongoing mentorship from coaches and peers.
Program Benefits
Participants will spend 5–10 hours per week developing their project and benefit from:
- Microgrant funding of up to $5,000 through one of three competitive funding streams.
- Expert guidance in creating a long-term sustainable business plan for their project.
- A supportive peer network to exchange ideas and collaborate.
- Access to professional resources and environmental experts.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Be aged 19–30 at the time of application.
- Be an alumnus of a Canada Service Corps (CSC) program.
- Have a project idea that contributes to environmental change, including:
- Direct actions like reducing single-use plastics, restoring habitats, or promoting sustainable seafood.
- Indirect actions like boosting environmental awareness, addressing eco-anxiety, or increasing inclusivity in green spaces.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee in Canada.
Participant Expectations
Grantees are expected to:
- Attend the in-person retreat (with travel, food, and accommodation covered).
- Actively participate in all 6 virtual workshops and discussions.
- Commit to regular mentorship meetings.
- Lead an individual or team-based project contributing to environmental sustainability.
- Submit an expense report and final program report.
- Deliver a scale-up and/or long-term sustainability plan for their project.
How to Apply
Applicants must submit a Project Proposal, which can be:
- A written statement (max 750 words) or a
- Video submission (max 5 minutes).
You may also include up to five supporting visuals (photos, diagrams, etc.).
Your proposal should:
- Clearly describe your project, its goals, and its target audience.
- Explain your motivation for applying.
- Highlight how your project supports environmental conservation, particularly ocean health and inclusivity in the environmental sector.
