How to Apply for a National ID (NIN) Online in Tanzania. As part of efforts to streamline access to student loans and other government services, the National Identification Authority (NIDA) has simplified the process for applying for a National Identification Number (NIN) through its online system.
What Is the NIDA Online Application System?
The NIDA application system allows both Tanzanian citizens and legal residents to fill out the National ID application form electronically from anywhere. After completing the form online, the applicant must print it and submit it along with required documents at the nearest NIDA District Office to complete biometric registration.
Required Documents for Tanzanian Citizens:
To apply for a National ID, Tanzanian citizens must provide the following:
- Applicant’s birth certificate
- Copy of a parent’s birth certificate or sworn affidavit
- If citizenship is by descent: Provide a copy of a parent’s birth certificate or National ID
- If citizenship is by naturalization: Provide a copy of the naturalization certificate (Dossier Number)
Required Documents for Legal Residents:
Legal residents must submit:
- Valid Passport Number
- Resident Permit or Work Permit
