Form five Selection 2024-2025 Overview
Form Five selection process in Tanzania is conducted by the National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA). The Form Five selection refers to the allocation of students to different secondary schools based on their performance in the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE), which is usually taken at the end of Form Four.
Here is a general overview of the Form Five selection process in Tanzania:
CSEE Examination: Students in Tanzania sit for the CSEE at the end of their Form Four studies. The examination is administered by NECTA and assesses students’ knowledge and skills in various subjects.
Compilation of Results: After the CSEE examination, NECTA compiles the results of all the students who participated in the examination. The results include the grades obtained by each student in different subjects.
Ranking: Once the results are compiled, students are ranked based on their performance. This ranking is typically done at the regional and national levels, and it determines the students’ chances of being selected for certain schools.
Selection Process: NECTA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, selects students for different schools based on their performance in the CSEE and the available vacancies in each school. The selection process considers students’ preferences for schools and strives to allocate students to schools they have chosen.
Publication of Selection Results: Once the selection process is completed, NECTA publishes the selection results. The results are usually posted on NECTA’s official website, and students can also check their results at their respective schools or regional education offices.
Reporting to Schools: After the selection results are published, students who have been selected for specific schools are required to report to their allocated schools within a specified period. They need to bring their original examination certificates and other relevant documents during the reporting process.
CSEE Objectives
The objectives of this examination are to assess students’ skills and knowledge achieved in different subjects at secondary school.
Also to weigh the extent to which the student can use the skills gained to meet the social, political, economic and technological challenges for the individual and the national development at large; to identify students with the capacity to continue learning to the advanced secondary school level and other learning institutions.
The holder of the CSEE qualification is expected to be able to apply skills of knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation in a broad range of activities.
Eligibility of CSEE Examination
Any students who have completed four years of secondary education at both government and non-government registered schools and passed form two secondary education examination or Qualifying Test. Also, repeaters of the same examination who registered themselves as private candidates.
