RUWASA Tanzania is an acronym for Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency. It is the Water Supply and Sanitation and Rural Environment Agency established by Act No. 5 of Water and Sanitation Services for the Year 2019. RUWASA has come into operation in July, 2019.
RUWASA’s responsibilities include;
- Design and oversee the construction of rural water projects
- Conduct research on groundwater
Drilling and building dams - Registering and enabling rural water users’ vessels
- Encourage the private sector to participate in the development of the rural water sector
- Advise the Minister of Water on the operation of the rural water sector
