SASSA Social Grants Increase 2023/2024. During the 2023 budget speech on February 22, 2023, Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana stated that the South African government would provide an additional R227 billion in funding over the medium term.
Out of this, R66 billion would be dedicated to Social Development, specifically allocating R36 billion to extend the COVID-19 SRD until March 31, 2024.
Additionally, R30 billion was earmarked for inflation-linked increases in other social grants, affecting SASSA grant recipients.
