The new model also shares a wider track with the Hilux Rogue model – extended by 140mm at the front, 155mm at the rear, and 15mm in ride height. This is thanks to redesigned wishbones and a reinforced rear axle for better cornering. Underneath you’ll find dedicated monotube shock absorbers with a higher damping force and heat-dissipation capacity, stiffer coil springs and an optimised front-rear suspension balance bringing reduced roll angle and increased steering response.
The Toyota Hilux GR Sport is based on the facelifted eighth-generation Hilux that was launched in 2019, but with some distinctive features that set it apart from the rest of the range. The most obvious difference is the exterior design, which features a unique front grille with a large GR logo, a black hood scoop, LED headlights with black bezels, and a black bumper with red accents. The side profile reveals black wheel arches, black door handles, black side steps, and 18-inch alloy wheels with a machined finish and red center caps. The rear end sports a black tailgate with a GR badge, a black bumper with red tow hooks, and LED taillights with dark chrome surrounds.
Several colours will be available for the new flagship ute, including Glacier White, Frosted White, Silver Sky, Eclipse Black and Feverish Red. A two-tone black roof will be available for white and red colours from launch.
On the inside, the seats are covered in leather and perforated suede with contrasting grey stitching. The leather-wrapped steering wheel has a red center mark, a GR logo, and paddle shifters. The shifter has been given a unique visual treatment, while the aluminum pedals work beautifully with the brand-new “Technical Mesh” trim applied to the dashboard and doors. Finally, the red seat belts add even more sportiness and fit beautifully with the Gazoo Racing corporate colors.
Under the hood of the 2024 Toyota Hilux GR-S is an upgraded version of the tried-and-tested 2.8-liter Inline 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine. It now produces 224 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The Hilux GR Sport still has a 3500kg of braked towing capacity.
