Maswa District is one of the 5 Districts that make up the new Simiyu Region. Other districts that make up Simiyu Region are Bariadi, Busega, Meatu and Itilima. To the east it borders Meatu District, North to North West it borders Itilima District, South to South West it borders Kishapu District (Shinyanga Region) and West it borders Kwimba (Mwanza Region).
