The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Gerald Kusaya has handed over Sh242.6 million ICT equipment for online training to the heads of private agricultural colleges in the country.
Handing over the equipment at an event involving private college principals in the country today, Tuesday, March 30, 2021, Kusaya said the equipment will help advance the concept of online learning so that textbooks that are not available in the country’s libraries, students and trainers can be easily accessed of the Internet.
He said in order to achieve training for agricultural colleges in the country there must be equipment to match the pace of technology in the country.
“Agricultural colleges are a hub for producing agricultural professionals with the aim of imparting knowledge and skills to farmers so that they can produce productively and increase their income,” said Kusaya.
The Dean of Dabaga Iringa Agricultural College, Novetha Mahanga said they were pleased with the allocation of the equipment to promote the agricultural sector in the country and help train their students in line with the pace of technology.
“We are happy and we have seen that the ministry of agriculture through its secretary general has shown us sincere cooperation without discrimination if all our goal is to promote the agricultural sector in our country,” said Mahanga.
Among the equipment entrusted are Cameras, Dry Cell Batteries, Invertors, UPS, Internet routers, CPU, Projector, LCD, and HDMI.
