1.0 ABOUT TANZANIA WILDLIFE RESEARCH INSTITUTE (TAWIRI)
TAWIRI is a parastatal organization under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, established in 1980 by Act No. 4 of the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania (CAP 260 R.E. 2021).
The institute has a national mandate to conduct and coordinate wildlife research while disseminating scientific information to stakeholders for sustainable biodiversity conservation. To achieve this, TAWIRI seeks to attract and retain highly skilled and motivated scientists and support staff.
Currently, the institute operates five Wildlife Research Centers located in:
- Western
- Kingupira
- Njiro
- Southern Highlands
- Serengeti
2.0 POSITION: RESEARCH OFFICER II – 3 POSTS
Work Station: TAWIRI
2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will:
- Collect, process, and analyze data related to wildlife management.
- Collaborate and interact with research scientists in disseminating and applying research findings.
- Gather relevant literature and prepare research reports.
- Assist in gathering information on disease surveillance and writing reports.
- Develop protocols for wildlife immobilization and handling for disease investigation and rescue of snared animals.
- Develop research proposals for fundraising.
- Publish research results in peer-reviewed journals.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
2.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must hold a Master’s Degree and Bachelor’s Degree in Wildlife Management or Wildlife Science and Conservation from recognized institutions.
- Must have a minimum of an Upper Second Class for the Undergraduate Degree.
2.3 REMUNERATION:
Salary Scale: PRSS 2
