The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. John Joseph Magufuli has passed away. An official statement issued to the public by the Vice President, Samia Suluhu Hassan on National Television (TBC) March 17, 2021 at 23:00 EAT stated that President Magufuli has died today from a heart attack at Mzena Hospital in Dar es Salaam.
President Magufuli was admitted on March 6 at the Jakaya Kikwete Heart Institute for heart failure. The country will be in mourning period for 14 days and the flags will fly at half-mast
