Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has said the manufacturing sector plays a key role in boosting the economy and eradicating poverty in the country, as well as improving the lives of Tanzanians.
The Prime Minister made the statement in Kilimanjaro after launching the expansion of the Serengeti Brewery Moshi branch during his working visit to inspect various development projects being implemented in the region.
“Globally, this sector has been a source of rapid development and is the mainstay of reliability in adding value to raw materials, providing employment to the people, increasing government revenue and foreign exchange, increasing and improving technology.” said Prime Minister Majaliwa.
Recognizing this, the government continues to encourage investment in the manufacturing sector by upgrading key and enabling infrastructure such as the Uhuru railway, the construction of modern railways so that they can carry heavy loads and transport them quickly from one place to another.
He called on investors and producers to contribute to the Government’s efforts to eliminate the challenges affecting the growth of the manufacturing sector by producing more high quality products and at a competitive price that even the average consumer can afford.
