Tanzania Prime Minister Give 2 Weeks Find Desk. Prime Minister of Tanzania Kassim Majaliwa has given two weeks to the Coast Regional Commissioner, Mkuranga District Commissioner and his Executive Director to ensure that Mwarusembe primary and secondary schools have desks.
He issued the order on August 13, 2020 while talking to students and teachers of Mwarusembe Primary School when he made a surprise visit to the school and found some students sitting on the ground.
“I give them two weeks to come and find desks here and there at Mwarusembe Secondary School. I have been told the form one students at the secondary school, they do not have desks. DC is there, the Director is there, and you know your situation, what are you doing?”
“DC, Director and Regional Commissioner if the situation is like this here in Mwarusembe where it is close to the main road, what is the situation in the rural areas?” Asked the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister said the region leads in the number of factories, and the district alone has 75 factories but has not been able to access desks. “Your council has more factories than all the districts, what does all this do? Why not go to those factories and talk to them so that CSR money can be used to eliminate this problem? Your annual income is more than two billion shillings, what are they doing? ”

“There are many industries, some of wood, some of metal and concrete and then you say there are not enough classrooms. Why not join forces and eliminate this problem? Why are you waiting for Mr. President to come and get complaints from the people? ”He asked Mkuranga District Commissioner, Mr. Filbert Sanga.
The Prime Minister said the lack of desks makes teachers unable to manage hygiene for students but also puts a burden on parents to buy soap so that their children can wash their clothes every day.
“I want the Governor, District Commissioner, Director of Councils and heads of departments especially education to reorganize in terms of desks. If I come again and if I do not find desks, be prepared …” Said Tanzania Prime Minister
