Vikosi Na Makambi Ya JKT (List of JKT Camps). The introduction of JKT, was caused by the ideas of the youth of the TANU Party (TANU Youth League), in their General Meeting held in Tabora on 25 Aug 62, under former UN Secretary-General, the late Joseph Nyerere.
On April 19, 63, the Cabinet of Tanganyika under the President of the Republic of Tanganyika and Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere, adopted the Declaration of the youth wing of TANU and decided unanimously on JKT firmly established on 10 July 1963. The group first gained Mgulani training camp in Dar es Salaam has a circulation of 11 young people from 11 different districts.
