NSC pass requirements 2024/2025. The National Senior Certificate or NSC is a high school diploma and is the school-leaving certificate in South Africa. This certificate is commonly known as the matriculation (matric) certificate, as grade 12 is the matriculation grade.
The NSC, previously known as the Further Education and Training Certificate or FETC, replaced the Senior Certificate with effect from 2008 and was phased in starting with grade 10 in 2006. Read more on http://ncdoe.ncpg.gov.za
NSC pass requirements
The following below are the NSC pass requirements:-
Admission to Bachelor studies
- Must obtain at least 40% for your Home Language (compulsory),
- Must obtain at least 50% for four other subjects excluding Life Orientation,
- Must obtain at least 30% for Language of Learning and Teaching (LOLT) of the tertiary (Higher Eduction) institution,
- Must obtain at least 30% for one other subject,
- Must pass at least 6 out of 7 subjects.
Admission to Diploma studies
- Must obtain at least 40% for your Home Language,
- Must obtain at least 40% for three other subjects excluding Life Orientation,
- Must obtain at least 30% for the Language of Learning and Teaching (LOLT) of the tertiary institution (Higher Education Institution),
- Must obtain at least 30% in one other subject
- Must pass at least 6 out of 7 subjects.
Higher Certificate
- Must obtain at least 40% for your Home Language,
- Must obtain at least 30% for the Language of Learning and Teaching (LOLT) of the tertiary institution (Higher Education Institution),
- Must obtain at least 40% for two other subjects,
- Must obtain at least 30% for three other subjects.
- Must past at least 6 out of 7 subjects.
