The Tanzania Higher Learning Institutions Students’ Organization (TAHLISO) was established in 2005 and it obtained its legal status in 2006 .It comprises with all students’ organization from all over the country. It was officially given power to operate by the Ministry Of home Affairs by registration number 14245/05/06/2006 which let TAHLISO to work cooperatively with the Ministry Of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST)
WHEREAS the students of higher learning institutions in Tanzania understand and
believe that, only a diligent, autonomous and independent students’ organization run democratically by students themselves will completely be responsible to students themselves and hence serve their interests to its best level.

WHEREAS history has shown that an autonomous students’ organization will improve a greater extent, and cordial relationship based on mutual understanding between the students of this country and other youths inside and outside Tanzania.
WHEREAS history has shown that students’ organizations have successfully and
collectively performed their responsibilities given to them by the nation as youth citizens and future leaders of Tanzania under numerous independent associations and organizations that reflect the actual situation of Tanzania higher learning institutions and that, some of these students are respected officially in our nation and worldwide.
Therefore WE students’ representatives on behalf of all students from Tanzania higher learning institutions meet as a Special General Assembly on this 01st and 02nd of September 2004 to officially declare the establishment of Tanzania higher learning institutions students organization also known by acronym as TAHLISO which shall have all powers as stated in the constitution.

WE students’ representatives on behalf of all students from Tanzania higher learning institutions students’ organizations do hereby freely and peaceably associate together to create a forum for mutual support and put our collective capability into force, and inter alias so as to ensure that our rights and interest are accessed and secured. TAHLISO shall join any umbrella organization for students and youth at the national level or international level and shall make sure that it participates effectively in all moral and material activities as deems fit to the interest of its members.
